The City owns and operates the water and waste-water system in Lincoln. The water metering system is the most modern of any utilizing a cellular connection. Every citizen with a smart phone is able to view their usage down to the hour and gallon. This system allows the City to actually be alerted to any customer who has a leak and also sends an alert to the customer. Thus no surprise water bill at the end of the month. The City utilizes two deep wells with a high water quality that does not require treatment. The system is capable of providing up to 2,000 gallons per minute. The system reaches across the north end of the county almost touching each of the adjoining counties. In addition to the capacity of the wells the City system is interconnected with two connections to the City of Oxford, two to the City of Talladega and one to Talladega County. In prior emergencies the City has provided water to the City of Talladega and Talladega County residents; and those systems have also provided water to our city.
